Christian Alsted was born on 18th of November 1961. He is married with three children. In 1984, he graduated from Överås Theological Seminary in Sweden. The same year he was ordained as a deacon and two years later as an elder. Christian has also studied in Asbury Theological Seminary in USA, where he received his doctoral degree in 2002.

As a pastor, Christian Alsted has served Esbjerg-Varde church in 1984-1989, Jerusalem’s Church in Copenhagen in 1989, Svendborg church in 2002-2004 and he has served as a superintendent in 2001-2007. Christian Alsted was elected to be the bishop of Northern Europe on 20th of February 2009.
